DIY Peanut Butter and Banana Dog Treats

Wholesome Delights for Your Dogs

Looking for a simple and healthy treat option? We have the perfect recipe for you. Not only are these PB & Banana treats easy to whip up, but they also feature ingredients that are tasty and beneficial for your canine companion. Depending on the size of your dog, they can be made small or large, and the ingredients are simple and customizable to fit your dog’s needs!

Ingredients:
  • 1 ripe banana, peeled
  • 1 cup oat flour
  • 2/3 cup rolled oats (If your dog has challenges chewing, grind rolled oats in food processor before adding to mixture)
  • 3 tablespoons creamy peanut butter (make sure it does not contain xylitol, as it is harmful to dogs)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup water (as needed for consistency)
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Peel the ripe banana and mash it in a bowl until smooth.
  • Mix dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine the flour and rolled oats.
  • Blend wet ingredients: In another bowl, mix the mashed banana, peanut butter, and egg.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring to form a dough. If the mixture seems too dry, add water, one tablespoon at a time, until you achieve a workable consistency.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut out fun shapes or simply use a knife to create bite-sized treats.
  • Place the cut treats on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until they turn golden brown. Keep an eye on them to avoid overcooking.
  • Allow the treats to cool completely before offering them to your pup. Once cooled, store the treats in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
Fun Toppings You Can Add:
  • Plato's Sprat or Salmon Oil (add a pump {depending on size of dog} to cooled treat before serving)
  • Unsweetened applesauce
  • Berries mashed (raspberries, blueberries or strawberries)
  • Unsweetened SunButter

These treats are delicious and packed with wholesome ingredients. Knowing exactly what goes into your pet's treats ensures that they enjoy a tasty snack while maintaining a balanced and healthy diet. So, get ready to spoil your pup with these delightful homemade treats – tails will be wagging in no time!
