DIY BONE-SHAPED PANCAKES

You know that feeling, when you finally sit down to enjoy your freshly made pancakes and your pup is giving you the eyes? How do we say no to the eyes? Well, we don't, so we’ve put together a dog-friendly pancake recipe that they will enjoy, and you can feel good about giving them!

These bone-shaped pancakes are the perfect way to treat your furry fam, simply for being them. You can whip these up with simple and customizable ingredients in just a few minutes!

PB & Banana Pancake Recipe

Serving: 3-4 pancakes

Ingredients:
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 bananas mashed
  • ¼ coconut flour (can substitute with oat flour)
  • Pinch of ground cinnamon
  • Coconut oil for pan (can substitute with olive oil or flaxseed oil)
  • Toppings: Plato’s TOPPERS (any of the five flavors), blueberries, and peanut butter (plain/unsweetened)

Equipment needed:
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Mixing bowl
  • skillet/pan
  • Drying rack
  • Dog bone cookie cutter

Instructions:
  1. Heat a non-stick pan on medium heat.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, mix eggs and mashed bananas until combined.
  3. Add in the flour and ground cinnamon. Mix well. If the batter is dry, add a dash of water.
  4. Add oil to the pan, then scoop the preferred amount of batter into the pan.
  5. When the bottom is golden brown, flip the pancake and cook the other side until golden brown.
  6. Transfer the cooked pancakes to a wire rack to cool to room temperature.
  7. Repeat with the remaining batter.
  8. If available, cut out shapes with a cookie cutter.
  9. Add toppings.
  10. Serve.

Toppings

As mentioned above, our toppings include Plato’s Superfood Toppers, blueberries, and peanut butter, but you can serve these pancakes with a variety of toppings. Here are some additional dog-friendly options:

  • Unsweetened applesauce
  • Chopped apples
  • Berries (raspberries or strawberries)
  • Unsweetened SunButter
Serving Size

How much you give your pup depends on the amount of food you normally portion for that day, as well as the size of your dog. For large dogs, we recommend one per day. For smaller dogs, we recommend a portion of one pancake per day. However, you know your dog and how many treats are right for them.

Store

Leftover pancakes should be kept in an air-tight container or a sealable plastic bag. You can refrigerate them or freeze them for longer storage.
