Plato Pet Treats

It’s that time again new commitments, new promises, new determinations. Every year, as we step into a new year, we find ourselves pontificating the ideas of improvement and goal completions or crossing off something from our bucket lists.

Well, the same certainly holds true for our four-legged friends. Our pets, too, secretly pine to improve themselves or to do more of something than they did the year previously.

Below are seven resolutions that all dogs want and need.

#1 More Walking, Running and Jumping

Not surprisingly high on our pet’s list is exercise. Yes. Laying around and rolling all over the carpet and furniture can be fun, but getting outdoors and taking in all that fresh air while running, chasing, and jumping is just the thing to keep our pets in tip-top condition. And since January is Walk Your Pet Month getting our pet outside to walk, run, and play is a must!

#2 More Shut Eye

Well, it certainly goes hand in hand; if our pets are playing hard, with all their running, and jumping, they will want to take more naps. Like we humans, our pet need rest to help build stronger immune systems, dream about their next great adventures, and recharge so they can get up the next day and have even more fun! Even if our pet’s shut eye is a 10-minute power nap; every minute of rest helps our pets reenergize!

# 3 More Pet Treats

If there’s one thing that motivates our pet, it is savory treats! Even pet owners love to partake of a treat now and then. Our dogs certainly are no different. And treats don’t need to be given at any particular time. Treats for all occasions are just fine and you will get no argument from your dog on that front. But not all treats are equal. If you’re going to give your pet treats, we suggest feeding treats that have zero fillers, meals, or by-products, no artificial colors or flavors, and are air-dried to preserve the inherit nutrients of the ingredients.

#4 Hanging with Dog Friends

Dogs are social animals by nature. A day at the dog park is like spending the day at Disneyland for us humans. What’s even better is meeting and getting to play with new doggie friends! Taking time out once or twice per week to meet up with other doggie friends helps to better socialize them over time and allows them to intermingle with other kinds of dogs. While at the park, we’d also suggest playing a few rounds of frisbee toss with your dog and his new friends, which will help them reach resolution #1: more running and jumping!

#5 A Friendly Vet Visit

While making sure that our pets get the best wholesome nutrition and exercise, it is also important for our pets to get an annual checkup each year. The new year is the perfect time to schedule that delayed veterinarian appointment to make sure they’re in their most optimal health.

#6 More Trips to the Groomer

Taking your pet to the local groomer a few extra times never hurt anyone and only makes man’s best friend that much happier! A nice haircut, nail trimming, and shampooing always lifts our pet’s spirits. It also helps reduce shedding and even bad posture.

#7 More Chew Toys

We recommend keeping plenty of chew toys on hand for your pets this year. While toys provide them with hours of play, they also strengthen their teeth and jaws. Nothing helps their teeth better than gnawing on a toy designed for doggie teeth and gums. Remember, the more chew toys around, the less destruction to your favorite shoe, pillow, or leather chair!

So, there you have it! Seven resolutions designed just for your furry friend. Use them all or just take away what fits your pet’s needs and wants. A new year is a time to reflect and commit anew to our dreams, purpose and resolve. The same holds true for our pets and they are always ready for a new resolution.

The Plato Pet Treats Cycle of Virtue

The Cycle of Virtue can be defined like this: a chain of events in which one desirable occurrence leads to another which further promotes the first occurrence and so on resulting in a continuous process of improvement. We love our pets and want to provide the best we can for them, and when we bless them in this way, they continue to bless us with a better quality of life and increased lifespan. This is a beautiful thing.
